Finance Minister Canvasses Support For Tinubu’s Economic Agenda

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, has called on the management and staff of the Ministry of Finance and Nigerians to support the ongoing efforts of President Bola Tinubu aimed at growing the economy and positioning Nigeria on the path of sustainable growth.

The Minister, who gave this charge on his assumption of office at the Ministry on Tuesday, said that the new administration’s  key macro, monetary and fiscal measures might have taken a toll on Nigerians but will hopefully be at the economy’s advantage.

He maintained that the government must perform since the expectations of Nigerians from Mr. President remained high as he promised to correct past anomalies, promising to do whatever that is possible to minimize the sufferings of Nigerians.

The minister, who assured Nigerians that the current hardships associated with the reform agenda of the new administration would soon be over, promised to consolidate on the achievements of the past minister in line with President Tinubu’s dream of taking Nigeria to greater socioeconomic heights..

Edun reiterated the need for team work in order to achieve the goals of the reforms, adding that it is the only way to achieve success.

Speaking earlier, the Permanent Federal Ministry Secretary of Finance, Mallam Aliyu Ahmed, said that the Minister’s antecedents and pedigree with over 30 years’ experience in the finance sector made him qualified for the political appointment and enjoyed the ministry’s management and staff to support him for the overall benefit of Nigerians.

He assured the minister of his support and the loyalty of the management and staff of the Ministry.
