NGX Closes Positive, As Investors Gain N253Bn

Bulls sustained their grip on Nigeria’s equities market trading session on Friday thereby boosting the market capitalization by N253 billion at the close of the day.

The All-share Index (ASI) appreciated by 0.89% to close at 52,512.48 points while the market capitalization closed at N28.602 trillion and the Year-to-Date (Y-t-D) returns settled at 2.46%. Since the narket reopened in January, it has advanced by 463.63 basis points.

A further analysis of the trading data showed that the market breadth closed positive as BERGER led 36 gainers while LASACO topped the 12 losers’ table at the end of the day’s trading session.

The equities market performance indices showed that the total volume of stocks traded stood at 217,162,132 valued at N2.55 billion in 4.591 deals.

The NGX top  five ASI gainers were BERGER up +10.00% to close at N6.60; LINKASSURE up +10.00% to close at N0.44; TOTAL up + 10.00% to close at N212.30; THOMASWY up +9.63% to close at N1.48; and PRESTIGE up +9.52% to close at N0.46

On the flip side, the top ASI losers comprised LASACO down – 10.00% to close at N0.99; CWG down – 9.52% to close at N0.95; CHELLARAM down – 9.46% to close at N1.34; ROYALEX down – 7.14% to close at N0.91; and FIDSON down – 4.16% to close at N9.34

Also, the data further reflected that the top 3 traded stocks by volume comprised ZENITHBANK – 20,310,743; GTCO  – 18,202,591; and UBA – 17,145,968 while those that topped by value include ZENITHBANK – N517,738,260.45; GTCO – N449,906,954.55; and MTNN – N355,445,563.50
