Governor of Adamawa State, Alhaji Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, on Monday presented a budgetary proposal for the sum of N140,034,404,440 to the State’s House of Assembly for consideration as the state’s 2021 fiscal budget estimates .
Governor Fintiri, who said the proposal would consolidate the socio-economic developments that had been recorded by his administration, urged the lawmakers to consider it expeditiously.
Reflecting on the performances of the 2020 budget so far, the governor recalled that the budget was revised from N180bn to N140bn as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that from January to September 2020, the state has received a total revenue of N87,314,384,987 which the government to implement recurrent and capital expenditures.
Governor Fintiri, in the proposed budget tagged “Budget of Stabilisation”, assured the lawmakers that in order improve capital development, government would cut the cost of running the government by 40 per cent in the 2021 fiscal year.
In his remarks while receiving the budget proposal, the Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, Hon. Iya Abubakar, described the proposal as in tandem with the yearnings and aspiration of the people of the state.
He appealed to the state government to prioritize the issue of primary school teachers in the 2021 budget to enable them to lay good foundation for the children of the state, assuring that the lawmakers would give the proposed budget quick deliberation and passage.
