NGX Opens February Trading Positive, As Investors Gain N142Bn

Trading at the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) closed positive today amidst buy-interests and sell-offs as bulls dominated the session, thereby increasing the broad market performance

Consequently, the equities market’s All-share Index (ASI) appreciated by 0.49% to close at 53,499.68 points while the market capitalization grew by N142 billion to close at N29.139 trillion.

The market’s indices showed that the growth in the ASI pushed the market’s Year-to-Date (YtD) returns up by 3.69% while the gain has improved by 1,904.02 basis points since the commencement of trading sessions in the bourse on January 4 this year.

The trading data indicated that the market breadth closed flat as SEPLAT led 20 gainers, just as  GUINNESS topped the 20 losers table at the end of today’s session just as the volume traded totaled 200.3 million with a value of N5.52 billion in 3,716 deals.

At the end of the day’s trading session, the five top ASI gainers include SEPLAT up + 10.00% to close at N1210.00; IMG up  + 10.00% to close at N7.70; NNFM up + 9.46% to close at N8.10; INTENEGINS up + 9.33% to close at N0.82; and NAHCO up + 9.26% to close at N8.85

On the flip side of the data, the top five ASI losers were GUINNESS down – 10.00% to close at N63.00; ARDOVA down – 9.95%  to close at N17.20; ACADEMY down – 9.85% to close at N1.19; RTBRISCOE down – 9.68% to close at N0.28; and CORNERST down – 8.33% to close at N0.55

The indices further reflected that the top 3 traded stocks by volume were UNIVINSURE–57,785,495; GTCO –16,607,443; and UBA–11,152,052 while those that topped the value table comprised GEREGU – N1,635,922,331; AIRTELAFRI – N1,337,151,283; and NESTLE – N 557,860,038
