Finance Minister, Adeosun, Resigns From Office

The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has reportedly resigned from office following recent allegations of forgery levelled against her on the issuance of her certification of exception from the compulsory National Youth Service.

Although details of the content of her letter of resignation are not in the public domain as at the time of this report, sources close to the corridors of power hinted  that the minister chose to step down from her position to protect President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) party from embarrassments as the 2019 election draws near.

A source was quoted as saying that “the minister decided to follow path of honour in an election year so that her NYSC issue is not used against the president and the party.

The source pointed out that throughout her tenure in office, Adeosun had exhibited high sense of responsibility and integrity and would therefore now allow the lingering allegation of illegally obtaining NYSC exception certificate to undermine the re-election bid of her principal – President Buhari.

Adeosun was said to be particularly uncomfortable with the vitriolic attacks on the President occasioned by the allegations and decided to sacrifice her office for the purposes of saving the Buhari-led administration from attacks from political opponents.
